Set Up Digital-Product Delivery in Wayland
Define what the customer receives, when access is granted, how download access is protected, and how failed delivery is recovered before choosing the ecommerce tooling.
Digital delivery is a workflow that begins after a successful purchase.
Before choosing a store plugin or payment service, define exactly what the customer should receive and what happens when automatic delivery fails.
Define the product and access rule
Identify:
- files or resources included;
- whether the customer needs an account;
- whether access expires;
- whether download limits are actually necessary;
- what customer information is required to identify the purchase.
Do not add restrictive rules simply because the platform supports them.
Connect confirmed payment to delivery
Delivery should be triggered by a trustworthy payment or order state rather than by the customer merely reaching a success-looking page.
The implementation should use the payment or ecommerce platform's supported confirmation mechanism.
Avoid permanent public file URLs
If a paid file sits at an ordinary public URL that anyone can share, the store has little access control.
Use authenticated access, provider-managed download delivery, signed or temporary links, or another supported method appropriate to the platform.
No ordinary web delivery system can guarantee that a customer will never copy a digital file after receiving it.
Make access instructions clear
The confirmation page or receipt should explain where the customer gets the product and what to do if the access message does not arrive.
That reduces support confusion.
Keep a manual recovery path
Staff should be able to confirm a legitimate purchase and restore access when email delivery, account access, or an automated workflow fails.
Keep source files and independent backups under business control.
