Practical reference

"Small furniture" should be confirmed by dimensions, not guessed from a listing photo.

A chair, side table, nightstand, small desk, or boxed shelf may look manageable until the pickup location reveals narrow stairs, a heavy solid-wood frame, or an item that will not fit safely in the vehicle.

## Get the dimensions before driving

Before accepting the pickup, confirm:

- item dimensions;
- approximate weight where known;
- pickup address;
- destination;
- access at both ends;
- whether stairs are involved;
- whether the item is already assembled.

If a manufacturer listing or seller listing provides reliable dimensions, use those rather than visual guesswork.

An item that does not fit safely should be declined before the trip whenever possible.

## Keep the purchase decision with the customer

The customer should decide whether the item is worth buying and whether the condition is acceptable.

The person doing the work can help transport it.

That does not automatically mean:

- negotiating price;
- authenticating the item;
- guaranteeing seller claims;
- deciding whether damage is acceptable;
- fronting purchase money.

If the customer wants a limited condition check before loading, that expectation should be agreed in advance.

## Coordinate pickup details

Useful details include:

- seller or store contact information;
- pickup window;
- exact location;
- stairs, elevators, or long carries;
- whether simple removable furniture parts need to come off for fit.

Any simple disassembly should be obvious, reversible, and appropriate for the item.

Specialty disassembly or heavy moving remains outside scope.

## Protect and secure the item

Once loaded, the furniture should be positioned so it does not shift unnecessarily.

Blankets, pads, or ties can be used when available and appropriate.

Vehicle visibility and controls must remain usable.

The goal is not just getting the item inside; it is getting it home without creating an unsafe transport arrangement.

## Unload to an accessible location

At the destination, manageable furniture can be carried to an accessible room or area.

If the delivery involves a difficult stair carry, oversized piece, or specialty item, that portion may need separate scope.

## Decline items outside the service

The person doing the work does not transport:

- pianos;
- safes;
- oversized sectionals;
- specialty appliances;
- commercial freight;
- items beyond safe handling or vehicle limits.

The finished result is straightforward: confirm the furniture actually fits the job, pick it up, protect and secure it, deliver it locally, and place it in an accessible destination.
