Some household projects are not contractor jobs. They are simply awkward to do alone.

**Switchboard Tech Services offers an extra pair of hands in Kirksville for small, manageable household projects where the customer mainly needs another capable person rather than a specialist.**

## Describe the helper role first

The useful question is not just "What project are you doing?"

It is "What do you need the second person to do?"

That might include:

- holding or steadying a manageable item;
- carrying or positioning parts;
- passing tools and hardware;
- sorting or staging materials;
- helping with straightforward furniture assembly;
- measuring or aligning movable pieces;
- cleaning up ordinary project materials afterward.

The customer may know the project well, but the requested helper role still has to fit Switchboard's safety and service boundaries.

## A second person does not turn specialist work into general work

Switchboard does not become an electrical, plumbing, gas, HVAC, roofing, structural, or other trade service simply because the customer is directing the project.

The same applies to dangerous heights, heavy rigging, unfamiliar hazardous machinery, or tasks where a mistake could create significant property or personal risk.

If specialized expertise is what actually makes the project safe, the project needs that specialist.

## No permanent fastening into the home

The General / Small-Job branch does not drill, nail, screw, anchor, or permanently fasten items into:

- walls or studs;
- trim or doors;
- window frames;
- floors or ceilings;
- built-ins or permanent cabinetry;
- other permanent parts of the home.

A project requiring that work is outside this service even if the customer only wants "help holding it."

Freestanding, removable, pressure-fit, and normal furniture-assembly work can still fit when the task is otherwise safe and manageable.

## Scope can change once the project is visible

If a job turns out to be heavier, higher, more specialized, or materially different from the description, Switchboard can stop or narrow the work.

Customer confidence does not override an obvious safety problem.

The best fit is a modest project where one person already has a reasonable plan and simply needs another set of capable hands to make the safe parts easier.
