Switch to Protonmail Reason #43: Act sooner when an alias appears in a reported data leak
A site-specific alias in a breach report tells you which account needs immediate attention.
Why this matters
A site-specific alias in a breach report tells you which account needs immediate attention. Privacy is easier to defend before this information is collected than after it has spread.
The protection
Monitoring and unique aliases work together: the alert points to a specific service rather than a generic inbox address.
Take action
Change that service's password, review sessions, and replace the alias if necessary. Do not assume a leak is limited to email addresses. Email protection depends on the route and settings. Ordinary mail involving outside providers is not automatically end-to-end encrypted, and email metadata is not universally hidden.
