Switch to Protonmail Reason #36: Avoid making routine email content available for provider-side profiling
Your inbox contains purchases, relationships, and plans; it should not be a convenient input to a corporate profile.
Why this matters
Your inbox contains purchases, relationships, and plans; it should not be a convenient input to a corporate profile. Privacy is easier to defend before this information is collected than after it has spread.
The protection
Proton's zero-access storage is designed so it cannot routinely read stored message contents.
Take action
Move the conversations you control and review other services connected to your mail. External senders and providers may retain their own copies. Email protection depends on the route and settings. Ordinary mail involving outside providers is not automatically end-to-end encrypted, and email metadata is not universally hidden.
