Switch to Protonmail Reason #21: Send password-protected encrypted mail to someone outside Proton
Ordinary email to another provider may be readable by that provider.
Why this matters
Ordinary email to another provider may be readable by that provider. Sensitive content deserves a stronger route. Privacy is easier to defend before this information is collected than after it has spread.
The protection
Proton can send a password-protected message that the outside recipient opens through an encrypted portal.
Take action
Use external encryption for sensitive mail and share the password through a different secure channel. Re-enable it for each reply you send. Email protection depends on the route and settings. Ordinary mail involving outside providers is not automatically end-to-end encrypted, and email metadata is not universally hidden.
