## Why this matters

Waiting until after a profile is built leaves you fighting to remove copies from many companies. Privacy is easier to defend before this information is collected than after it has spread.

## The protection

Brave's default Shields block common tracking requests before they reach outside parties.

## Take action

Make the switch for your ordinary browsing, then review logins, search settings, and phone browsing. No browser can erase data already collected. Brave reduces common tracking, but a site you sign in to still knows what you do there. Ordinary browsing also reveals your IP address to the destination.
