## Why this matters

A website that distributes malware can turn a browsing mistake into a device compromise. Privacy is easier to defend before this information is collected than after it has spread.

## The protection

Brave's Safe Browsing checks against known dangerous websites.

## Take action

Keep Brave updated and heed warnings. The system is a warning layer, not a guarantee that every unknown site is safe. Brave reduces common tracking, but a site you sign in to still knows what you do there. Ordinary browsing also reveals your IP address to the destination.
