## Why this matters

Research about debt, insurance, or a major purchase can be commercially valuable to targeting systems. Privacy is easier to defend before this information is collected than after it has spread.

## The protection

Shields blocks many embedded trackers that would otherwise connect finance-related pages with unrelated browsing.

## Take action

Move financial research into a protected browser and check the Shields counter. Banks and sites where you sign in still know your activity there. Brave reduces common tracking, but a site you sign in to still knows what you do there. Ordinary browsing also reveals your IP address to the destination.
