## Why this matters

An ad slot can bring outside code and trackers onto a page you otherwise trust. Privacy is easier to defend before this information is collected than after it has spread.

## The protection

Shields blocks many third-party ads and trackers before they run in the browser.

## Take action

Keep Shields enabled during daily browsing. This reduces exposure but does not replace updates, cautious downloads, or malware protection. Brave reduces common tracking, but a site you sign in to still knows what you do there. Ordinary browsing also reveals your IP address to the destination.
