Where to Play Pickleball Outdoors in Kirksville

Kirksville currently has City-documented outdoor pickleball lines at Brashear Park, Memorial Park and Patryla Park, but the surfaces and net setups differ.

Kirksville has several outdoor courts with pickleball lines, but not all of them are dedicated pickleball courts.

That distinction matters because the surface, net and competing uses differ by park.

Brashear Park

1415 E. Normal St.

The City's current park page says Brashear Park has a basketball court with pickleball lines.

The City does not currently say that a permanent pickleball net is installed.

Players should therefore verify the setup or plan for the possibility that a portable net is needed.

Brashear also has:

  • playground;
  • shelter;
  • restrooms;
  • seasonal wading pool.

For the full park guide, see Brashear Park in Kirksville: What to Expect.

Memorial Park

404 E. Cottonwood St.

Memorial Park also has a basketball court lined for pickleball.

Again, the City's current page confirms the lines but does not promise a permanent pickleball net.

The park also includes:

  • playground;
  • restrooms;
  • reservable shelter;
  • 0.15-mile walking loop.

See Memorial Park in Kirksville: Recreation and Veterans Memorial History.

Patryla Park

1202 Decker Road

Patryla Park has two tennis courts that are also lined for pickleball.

That makes it a different setup from the basketball-court conversions at Brashear and Memorial.

The City also lists restrooms nearby.

Current third-party pickleball directories describe the courts as shared tennis/pickleball surfaces using the tennis-net setup.

Treat that as a current directory report rather than a City guarantee.

Dedicated versus lined courts

The three City-documented options should be described accurately:

  • Brashear: basketball court with pickleball lines;
  • Memorial: basketball court with pickleball lines;
  • Patryla: tennis courts with pickleball lines.

Painted lines do not automatically mean:

  • dedicated pickleball surface;
  • permanent pickleball net;
  • exclusive pickleball use.

Expect to share the space according to normal park use.

What about Truman State University?

Current Truman Campus Recreation material acknowledges outdoor pickleball activity and equipment.

However, the University's public pages searched for this article do not clearly establish:

  • exact outdoor court location;
  • general-public access;
  • permanent net availability.

Third-party directories list a Truman option, but this article does not present that as a guaranteed public venue without direct University confirmation.

Should you bring a net?

For Brashear and Memorial, the safest assumption is to confirm current net availability before leaving home.

At Patryla, the shared tennis-court configuration is more clearly documented, but that still does not make it a dedicated regulation pickleball setup.

Best choice depends on what you want

Choose based on the surface:

basketball/pickleball multipurpose: Brashear or Memorial

tennis/pickleball multipurpose: Patryla

If net configuration matters, verify immediately before playing.

Kirksville has enough painted lines to get a game going.

The remaining question is whether the park has supplied the middle part.
