The City's current Ballfields page says shelter reservations open starting in January of that calendar year. As of the September 2026 check for this article, the posted shelter fee is $40 per rental.

The FLATS Trailhead also has a covered shelter with two picnic tables and electrical outlets, but the current general park page does not present it with the same reservation link as the listed reservable shelters. Do not assume it can be booked without checking the live portal.

## Step 2: Check the surrounding park

The shelter itself is only part of the decision.

A family gathering may care more about:

- nearby playgrounds;
- restrooms;
- basketball or softball;
- water play;
- walking paths;
