Omarchy Keyboard Shortcuts: The Hotkeys You Actually Need
New Omarchy users can become functional quickly by learning Super+K for the binding list, Super+Space for the Omarchy menu and a small set of window, workspace, terminal and network shortcuts.
If you remember only two Omarchy shortcuts at first, make them:
- Super + K — show the main keyboard bindings.
- Super + Space — open the Omarchy menu.
Those two keys give you a way to rediscover almost everything else.
The following bindings were checked against the current Omarchy manual in September 2026.
Launch the essentials
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
Super + Return |
Terminal |
Super + Shift + Return |
Browser |
Super + Shift + F |
File manager |
Super + Shift + N |
Neovim |
Super + Alt + Space |
Apps menu |
You do not need to memorize every application shortcut immediately.
The apps menu remains available when you forget one.
Control windows
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
Super + W or Super + Q |
Close active window |
Super + T |
Toggle tiled/floating |
Super + F |
Full screen |
Super + Arrow |
Move focus in that direction |
Super + Shift + Arrow |
Swap with window in that direction |
The most important conceptual shift from a conventional desktop is that tiling is normal.
You usually navigate windows instead of dragging them into place.
Move between workspaces
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
Super + 1/2/3/4 |
Jump to workspace |
Super + Tab |
Next workspace |
Super + Shift + Tab |
Previous workspace |
Super + Shift + 1/2/3/4 |
Move window to workspace |
Workspaces are central to the Omarchy workflow.
Using one workspace per activity can be easier than stacking many windows on one desktop.
Open system controls
A few system bindings save repeated menu navigation:
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
Super + Ctrl + W |
Wi-Fi/network panel |
Super + Ctrl + B |
Bluetooth panel |
Super + Ctrl + A |
Audio panel |
Super + Ctrl + P |
Power panel |
Super + Escape |
System menu |
The exact list is longer, but these cover common daily needs.
Screenshots and capture
Current bindings include:
Print Screen— screenshot;Alt + Print Screen— screen recording;Super + Ctrl + C— capture menu;Super + Print Screen— color picker.
The capture menu is useful on keyboards without a Print Screen key.
Learn the system from Super + K
Do not turn this article into a permanent printed wall of shortcuts.
Omarchy changes over time, and your installed version knows its own bindings.
Press Super + K whenever you need the current list.
That is more reliable than memorizing a six-month-old blog post.
Custom bindings belong in your user config
The current manual says user bindings can be changed or added in:
~/.config/hypr/bindings.lua
That is the right direction for customization instead of editing packaged Omarchy files.
Before changing defaults, learn the existing workflow long enough to know which binding is actually getting in your way.
For the broader desktop model, see What Is Omarchy?.
Shortcuts are not trivia in Omarchy. They are the primary interface language, and a dozen useful bindings are enough to make the desktop stop feeling foreign.
