Kirksville Splash Pads and Seasonal Wading Pools

Kirksville has two different kinds of small-child outdoor water play: a self-serve splash pad at P.C. Mills Park and seasonal wading pools at Brashear and Jaycee parks.

They are not interchangeable. The splash pad and wading pools use different operating models and schedules.

P.C. Mills Park Splash Pad

P.C. Mills Park is at 1506 S. Baird St.

The City currently describes its splash pad as a free seasonal amenity that operates on a self-serve basis during regular park hours. The City's current guidance says it is intended to run from May through September.

The splash pad opened in 2026, making it a relatively new addition to the park.

P.C. Mills also has restrooms, playground equipment, a shelter, a half basketball court and a large open field.

Brashear Park Wading Pool

Brashear Park is at 1415 E. Normal St.

Its wading pool is seasonal and runs on a published summer schedule rather than simply being available throughout normal park hours.

The City also ties wading-pool operation to weather conditions.

Jaycee Park Wading Pool

Jaycee Park is at 1115 N. Osteopathy St.

Like Brashear, its wading pool operates on a seasonal City schedule and can be affected by weather.

Which option is easier for a spontaneous visit?

The P.C. Mills splash pad is the simpler option when its seasonal system is active because the City describes it as self-serve during normal park hours.

The wading pools require more schedule checking.

That does not make one option better than the other; it means families should check a different kind of information before leaving home.

Do not rely on last summer's timetable

The City publishes specific wading-pool dates, days and weather rules each season.
