SIP Downtown: A Kirksville gathering space moves to special events

SIP Downtown now focuses on special events, private bookings and mobile bar services. Here is how to plan a visit or inquire about an event.

SIP Downtown has changed how it welcomes guests. Its website now announces a move away from regular opening hours toward special events, private celebrations and mobile bar work. For anyone planning a stop at 122 West Harrison Street in Kirksville, that is the first detail to know: check the particular event before heading downtown. SIP's website explains the current arrangement.

From a downtown bar to an event business

According to SIP's business history, Truman State graduate Laci Cook founded the woman-owned business in 2020. Cocktails, wine and small plates formed its original offering. The business also developed services around hosting, including space rental, catering and event planning.

The current model carries that gathering-space role forward through selected public nights, ticketed events and private rentals. Its listed plans include pop-ups, classes and collaborations. A private booking does not mean the doors are open to the general public that evening.

That gives Kirksville residents two ways to use the business: attend an announced public event or discuss a gathering of their own. Hosts considering mobile bar service should ask about the event location, staffing, what is included and the full quote before making arrangements.

Contact SIP

Use the SIP Downtown website for event and booking information. The business lists 660-730-5050 and sipdowntown@gmail.com as contacts. For an event at the downtown space, the address is 122 W. Harrison St., Kirksville.

When inquiring, include your date, expected attendance and whether you need the venue or service at another location. Confirm ticket requirements for a public event; an older listing of weekly bar hours may no longer apply.
