Jaycee Park in Kirksville: Playground, Shelter, Ball Field and Wading Pool

Jaycee Park has age-separated playground equipment, a reservable shelter, half-court basketball, a regulation softball field, restrooms and a seasonal wading pool.

Jaycee Park is at 1115 N. Osteopathy St. on the western side of Kirksville. It combines family play space with a shelter, basketball, softball and a seasonal wading pool.

The park is useful when a group wants more than one activity in the same place.

Playground equipment is separated by age

The City currently lists one playground structure for preschool-age children and a separate structure for children age 5 and older.

That age split makes Jaycee easier to evaluate before arriving with younger children. For a comparison with other play areas around town, see Which Kirksville Parks Have Playgrounds?.

Sports facilities

Jaycee Park has:

  • a half-court basketball court;
  • a regulation softball field.

The City links the ball field to its reservation system. A field reservation request is not automatically an approval, and current availability is controlled through Parks & Recreation.

Shelter and restrooms

The covered shelter is listed as 20 by 60 feet with seven tables, electricity and a barbecue grill.

The park also has restrooms.

The shelter is reservable. If a gathering depends on having it, use the official reservation process rather than relying on first-come availability. How to Reserve a Picnic Shelter in Kirksville explains the current process.

The wading pool is not a year-round amenity

Jaycee's wading pool operates seasonally.

The City publishes summer dates, days and weather rules through its Aquatic Center information. Those details change by season, so an old schedule should not be treated as a standing weekly timetable.

Weather matters too. The City's 2026 information tied operation to temperature and precipitation conditions.

For current water-play options, see Kirksville Splash Pads and Seasonal Wading Pools.

Before planning a special trip

The permanent park layout is relatively stable, but field availability, shelter reservations and wading-pool operation are not.

Check the City's live Parks, Trails & Facilities page and current Aquatic Center information if one specific amenity is the reason you are going.
