Ancient Web: Redline 2066 Rebuilt a 2001 Fansite for a Forgotten Shooter

Xanarki's hand-coded Redline 2066 resurrects a 2001–2006 fan-site project and collects secrets, vehicles, compatibility fixes and history of the 1999 car-combat game Redline.

A computer game can vanish from conversation long before anybody finishes documenting its secrets. The person behind Redline 2066 built a small HTML site so one forgotten shooter would not disappear quite so completely.

The site is dedicated to Redline: Gang Warfare 2066, a 1999 Windows game combining first-person action with vehicle combat. Its maintainer, Xanarki, says the game came from Beyond Games and used the company's Daedalus engine. A proposed editor and sequel never materialized, while the released game received limited post-launch support.

The game is old; this particular website is not from 1999. Xanarki dates its first pages to July 26, 2020, but says it is the spiritual successor to a fan site he maintained around 2001–2006. He used pure HTML to echo the late-1990s style and keep reference information available to a small audience.

The nostalgia has specific work to do

The homepage's dated update notes reveal an archival effort. In 2023, the author documented a new compatibility discovery: on his setup, the game could crash when a wireless headset was connected. He also added entries for a non-playable airplane and giant turret, two details omitted from an earlier vehicle inventory.

An August 2025 update records a server move and three additions to the secrets section. Those aren't evidence of a flourishing commercial product; they are signs of a fan still improving an old game reference.

The site also explains its domain change. Xanarki forgot to renew the original .com address in 2022, after which others offered it back at a price he declined. The archive continued under .net instead.

One of its appeals is to former Beyond Games employees: perhaps somebody still has project files, tools or unreleased material on an old CD-ROM, ZIP disk or floppy. That is a serious preservation request hidden inside a modest fansite.

The site offers a Discord link, but the core is intentionally ordinary HTML and a set of hand-maintained reference pages. Its historical value lies in preserving a 1999 game and the memory of an earlier fan project, not in pretending this domain has existed since the original game's release.
