Someone at Genesis Collective evidently decided that a list of Sega games was not enough. A proper catalog should also know what the cartridge looked like from the top, what appeared on the box and exactly which Game Genie codes actually existed.

[Explore the preserved Genesis Collective database](https://backup.segakore.fr/genesiscollective/).

The homepage identifies itself as a Genesis Game Index, with a copyright range of 1999–2002 and a final database update dated November 11, 2002. Its preserved tally claims 1,303 name entries, 1,263 game entries, 819 game pages, 1,247 startup screenshots and 1,001 in-game screenshots. It also lists hundreds of cartridge labels, box scans and edge-label images.

Those figures are the site's own frozen counts, not a present-day inventory of all Sega releases. Their specificity is revealing. The creators were building a database for collectors and players who cared about regional packaging, physical objects and obscure variants, not merely the most celebrated titles.

## The codes were an archive of their own

The surviving index reports 9,587 Game Genie codes for 267 games, along with Action Replay codes, hints, cheats and 1,264 passwords. A [page for *Introducing the Humans*](https://backup.segakore.fr/genesiscollective/ShowPage00000000029371384.htm) lists individual level passwords next to cartridge images and game screenshots. Another [multicart-series page](https://backup.segakore.fr/genesiscollective/ShowPage000000000290F85A32.htm) distinguishes European Mega Drive collections from American counterparts.

The homepage even preserves popularity figures from its own era: *Rolling Thunder 3* topped its listed game views, while the *Shinobi* series led its comments table. Those are internal site statistics, not proof of general gaming popularity.

The backup's unusually long generated filenames are a reminder of the early database-driven Web. Visitors found entries through lettered indexes and linked series pages rather than searching an enormous standardized storefront.

This is a preserved copy, not a claim that Genesis Collective still maintains the old database. The mirror makes an early enthusiast project inspectable with its labels, categories, imperfect descriptions and original numbers still attached.
